Our sons are about the same age (mine’s 12). Recently, after years of disinterest in books, my son has started reading voraciously. When my wife and I go to bed, he climbs in his bed and starts to read. We often find him four hours later still at it. We read incessantly to our kids when they were small. I have to believe it helped shape his love of books.

My mother, the greatest reader I ever knew, told me she tossed magazines in my crib to keep me quiet. I still love magazines 😉
