If Trump were regularly offering up offensive comments enabling child molesters instead of racists, would the Republicans then finally grow backbones and stand up to him?
I think they probably would. Which raises the question of why, to most elected GOP, white supremacists / neo-Nazis are acceptable (enough) but child molesters are not. I think to decent Americans both of these groups are so disgusting that they are unacceptable in any context.
Apparently this is no longer true of the GOP.
