Very sad to see the shocking images of Notre Dame burning. I once sat right outside it and ate lunch. A spectacular edifice and a treasure of almost unparalleled value to the French nation, gone. #NotreDameCathedralFire #NotreDamedeParis

Past the Isle of Dogs 
I spent much of yesterday in tears. Visiting Notre Dame, and lighting a candle for my beloved French teacher who had passed just a couple of months before, was an incredibly moving experience.

Still a bummer but glad they saved most of it for a rainy day. It was my landmark every time I visited AND the best way to understand the flying buttress.

I was manplaining to my wife what a flying buttress was this morning. And the difference between Gothic and Neo-Gothic architecture.
