Speaking as someone who values internally logical storycraft, if I were writing a narrative involving my people being threatened with annihilation by a superpowerful demonic king who rides an ice-dragon and has power over thousands of “undead” warriors, and if victory over said demonic king hinged on getting a spear or sword through his head, my first thought would NOT be to lure him into a grove for a one-on-one battle with an emasculated, emotionally scarred weakling who has previously and repeatedly shown disloyalty to my people.
