Ultimately, the reason for the shamefully poor showing at the Tulsa rally boils down to this: Trump’s supporters were not passionate enough about him to turn out in the numbers he’d counted on. They could have easily braved the heat and the rain and the imaginary antifa protesters and the hoax virus, foregone the comfort of their sofas and Doritos, and physically arrived to bray cheek-to-jowl their lusty support for MAGA Man. There was a time when they would have but that time has passed.
